Outline
Upon successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the following, concepts: mass media and its methods, influences and institutions. Furthermore, the communications components of this course will show students how to communicate effective, orally, in the written form and on a subconscious level. The last module of this course will examine networking sites, both the effectiveness and its detractions. The instructional method will consist of lectures, in-class discussions, documentaries, and debates. Class participation is vital to class atmosphere and obtaining a good mark.
Marking Scheme
Tests
3 in-class examinations, each worth 15% of final grade
Examinations
One final examination, worth 30% of final grade
Oral Presentation
One oral project, worth 15% of final grade
Pop Quiz
One pop quiz, worth 10% of final grade
Classroom Conduct
As students, you reserve the right to be in a learning environment that is free of any distractions. Consequently, tardiness and disruptive classroom behavior will not be tolerated in any form. (please refer to the High School of Montréal’s policy regarding said behaviour)
